Weirdly I Am Into Plants Now!
You can tell my mom is a plant lover when you see varieties of colorful plants at my house. But if you ask me whether I am a plant lover, the answer would be 'NO'. I see my mom get excited about plants, but I never cared or showed any interest in gardening. So, you can tell I am the exact opposite of my mom.
However, the funny thing is that despite my zero interest in plants, I started working at I Am The Gardener. Unlike me, most of my colleagues are plant enthusiasts. Since I am working in a garden center, of course, my primary task is to stay updated about every variety of plants. In my initial days, even though I had all the resources to know about the plants, I just could not differentiate between their names and varieties. I used to get envious of my supervisor because she could tell the plants apart just by looking at their pictures. Every time a customer had a plant query, I used to forward it to her and ask for their names. At times, I used to get very frustrated because firstly I had to bother my supervisor, and secondly the plant names and their varieties created a lot of confusion.
Despite all the frustrations and confusions, it was perhaps my willingness to learn and grow that I slowly noticed myself looking around for plants at my home. This still feels very surprising to me because I never bothered to get to know them initially. I realized getting all excited to see plants at home because they were quite familiar with what we were offering to our customers. Moreover, this time, I noticed myself making the effort to stroll around my garden with my mom and try to guess the plant’s names. Every time I made a correct guess, I used to shout in excitement. Interestingly I still do this, but in public places as well. Wherever I go, if I see a familiar plant, I shout their names in excitement and if they are unfamiliar, I get all excited to learn about them.
You can tell I have slowly developed an interest in plants but I am still not ready to grow a plant by myself. But who knows, after working here for a few more months, I might be able to do that as well!
