My Favorite Plants!
Once I started working as a digital marketing executive here at I am The Gardener, I was introduced to a whole new world of plants including a wide selection of both indoor and outdoor plants. Initially, it was a lot to take in, but slowly I got a grasp of their names and started understanding their nature.
During the first few months we were advised to work from home because of the global pandemic. And so, I could only appreciate the plants from a distance. I knew that our nursery had so many different plants but it was only after my first visit to our production house did I truly realize the variety of plants that we had to offer. The most exciting part was that on the day of my first visit to the production house our newest imports dropped in! Seeing all the new imported plants left me awestruck! Even though the number of plants overwhelmed me, still, a few of them managed to spark my interest. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but all of them were indoor plants! Three beauties in specific stood out to me.
The first plants that caught my eyes were the orchids. I’m sure its beauty needs no explanation! It was in full bloom and it was a sight to see. We had a range of Phalaenopsis and Cymbidium varieties in all the pretty colors. While I had seen pictures of them before, seeing their bright color and pretty flowers in real life was entirely different. I can definitely say that I'm an orchid-fanatic now! Once I learnt that orchids are known to be a symbol of proud and glorious femininity, it made me love them even more! I think we all need a reminder to embrace our femininity and having orchids around is the perfect way to do it!
The second type of plants that drew me toward them was the Anthuriums. It was surely love at first sight. They came in so many different sizes and a range of colors; I just wanted to collect them all. Out of all the different varieties my favorite had to be the white anthurium. Its glossy white flowers looked beautiful in contrast to its big luscious green leaves. Just like me, anthurium loves bright light and they are also considered lucky plants. On top of all this, they are an air purifying plant and we all know how important that is right now.
My favorite out of all the plants and a staple amongst all the plant lovers is the monstera deliciosa. I used to see all my favorite Youtubers having this plant and I have always wanted one for myself. Seeing it in person really had me appreciating this beauty. It is quite a statement maker! It has vibrant green leaves that can grow to be quite big. They look nice in any pot and can make your house feel like your own personal jungle.
I’ve now spent a few months in the world of plants. I’ve come to understand why people relate to plants so much and why everyone is hopping on the plant train! Learning about all the different kinds of plants and how to care for them has made me appreciate them so much more. My favorite part of my job is going to the production house and spending my days surrounded by my favorite plants.
